RHEL 6.1 what's new

I had opportunity to test it, here are some tech news about rhel 6.1.

Before we start, I've to say CentOS has been much delayed on this release. Even Scientific Linux released their clone of SL6.0

  1. Introduce biosdevname instead of ethX for network interfaces
  2. Better support hot-add CPU and memory for Nehalem-EX
  3. Enhancement performance and function for cgroup, scheduler and network
  4. Better lvm snapshots, mirrors, stripes
  5. More enhancements for sssd
  6. Tons boost on virtualization
  7. Also some pretty technology previews, including btrfs and fscache
