Cloud made easy

When I saw the bills from AWS. I was first shocked, then I start to calculate how much will it cost if I built a datacenter by myself, add on server hardware, vmware and network, load balance etc Quickly price just become astronomic.

I used another approach, use tons of open source solutions. In the end it is much cheaper, but time of implementation may triple or more.

So, my conclusion is.

• Cloud is cheaper on time to market
• Cloud may cost more over time, if incorrect resource allocation
• Use standard features of Cloud, to avoid cloud "locked-in"
• If you have to use special cloud features, make sure you have a plan B
