My personal view of enterprise monitoring is not only "fix the problem" any more. It is all about "prevent the problem". After couple monitoring implementations, this is my map.
Red part (light) is devices and services, does not matter they are cloud or hosted. Yellow part is traditional IT department, how problem can be resolved in organized way.
Green part is prevention of failure, make services better and continuous improvement.
