Are we doing any progress at all?
More IT systems to help us to create more complicated services to make human impossible to live without it. Instead of simplify it, just hopeless add more perplex to it. We are pro consumption and pro capitalism. Everything is about grow and profit. Once a while, we think about poor and hunger people, but the world order remain the same.
Our life may get little simpler, but IT systems are not. We are building our own tower of Babylon.
This is bad, with in next 5-10 years. Whole industry must re-think what real value of IT. My guess is a new era of personalized production will prosperity.
