What makes a good system engineer great?

What makes a good system engineer great? I have been thinking about this for past few weeks. I my daily life, I meet a numbers of system administrator and system engineers. I'll summarize road from good to great.

• KISS principle. Keep It Simple, Stupid. A great system engineer can make system that simple even business people understand the concept.
• Be pragmatic when problem occur, see solution rather than headaches.
• Have a wild range of knowledge of tools, software and tricks that can be used at any difficult situations.
• Mind set of overview, understand cost & business, knowing latest is not greatest and bleeding edge is painful sometimes.
• Prevent & foreseen the problem before it occur.

In short, a great system engineer should avoid people notice him/her, but everything around him/her just works.
